Conrad N. Lien passed from this life into his heavenly home on Thursday, October 8, 2015. A healthy man all of his life, he was afflicted with slow, progressive Parkinson’s Dementia in 2006, but was taken quickly by other complications.

Conrad was born of immigrant Norwegian parents in 1930. His mother inherited a farm in Norway, and she and the children moved to Norway to claim this property.

WWII raged and the family came back to America risking the mines in the North Sea, and rejoined his father in Elmwood Park, IL. After attending an all boys high school, he attended Wright Jr. College, until he was drafted into the Marines. He served in Korea in 1951-52, returned home to again attend higher education studying architecture at U. of Illinois. He was involved in many sports, especially football and softball. Conrad invested in a small plane in the ‘50s with 3 other friends and got his pilot’s license. He met his wife, Joan, while she was in nursing school and upon graduation, they married in 1960. Randall Wade was born in 1962 and Kristin Grace in 1971.

In his lifetime in Construction he built 2 apartment buildings and several homes. Most of his construction career was in masonry and he completed several buildings in Glenwood Springs. Brick, block and stone was his specialty.

Conrad was an ambitious, softly spoken man, with a quick wit, which made all that knew him, relaxed and anxious to be his friend. He loved his family and his Lord with all his heart. He is missed by his wife, Joan, his son, Randy and his wife, Denise and their children, Brandon and Hannah of Ottumwa, Iowa; and daughter, Krisi Haskell and her boys, Kodah, Talyn and Noble, of Aurora, Colorado.

After Glenwood Springs being their home for 40 years, the couple moved to Aurora to “downsize” and seek further medical assistance. Celebration of Conrad’s life will be at Mountain View Church, Glenwood Springs, on Wednesday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. with internment at Rosebud Cemetery to follow.
