William Francis Payson, Jr. (Bill) of Rifle, CO passed away June 2, 2016. He was born June 8, 1945 in Beaufort, SC to William Frances Payson and Grace Sanderson Payson.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, he attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, and served five years in the U.S. Navy as a supply officer in the Mediterranean Sea.
Following his Naval service, he had careers in railroad construction, and in securities on Long Island, NY and West Palm Beach, FL. He and his family enjoyed vacations at the HF Bar Ranch in Saddlestring, WY. In retirement, he moved to Sheridan, WY and later to Rifle, CO to be near children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Frances Alexandra Payson. He is survived by daughters Virginia Perry Payson and Elizabeth Ione Payson, son in law James Campbell Ringley, and grandchildren Charles Payson Ringley, Georgina Campbell Ringley, and Lilly Elizabeth Mullin.
