Obituary for Judith M Carr

Judy was born on October 21, 1934 in Glenwood Springs to Leonard and Ruth (Gambrel) Blotiaux. She passed away on March 6, 2015 at Heritage Park Care Center from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a beautiful woman and was Strawberry Days Queen in 1951. Judy had a son Robert with Robert Collins and a son Sean and daughter Siobhan (PeeWee) with Harry McMillan. She married Jim Easton in 1995.

Judy was a recovering alcoholic. In 1983 her daughter took her to detox, where her life began anew. In sobriety she was “happy, joyous and free.” Two years later she began working at the Colorado West detox. To her surprise she found a vocation as a drug and alcohol counselor and touched many lives. She had a profound gift for connecting to people. She was proud to earn a CAC III.

She was a fabulous cook, baker and hash slinger in restaurants in Glenwood, Rifle and Silt. She loved nature, especially wild flowers, birds and fall colors. She pressed flowers, which she used in her drawings. She rafted rivers and traveled to Moab, London, Paris, Rome and other points. She was a wild child all her life and loved interacting with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter PeeWee. She is survived by her husband, Jim Easton of Glenwood, sons Bob Blotiaux of New Castle and Sean McMillan of Rifle. Her grandchildren are Christopher and Phillip Black, Mayona Clement, Tyler McMillan, Sophia and Kyle Concannon, and Isaiah Valdez. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home on Friday March 13th at 11am. There will be a reception afterwards. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her name to the Youth Recovery Center at Valley View Hospital.
