Obituary for Floyd Edward "Bodie" Collins

Floyd Edward “Bodie” Collins, 90, of Glenwood Springs passed away October 26, 2018. Bodie was born October 19, 1928 in Simenial, Oklahoma. Bodie moved to Carthage, Texas when he was 14 years old. In 1948 he met and married his loving wife Virginia. Bodie is survived by his four amazing children. Mike (Debbie) Collins, Dan (Lela) Collins, Janet (Scott) Balcomb, and Bill (Kim) Collins. Sister Dee Blacklaw, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Bodie was preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia, his parents Bill and Maude, brother Walter, sister Dorothy, and daughter in law Kim Collins. Bodie has been working in the oil field industry since 1942 where he traveled from Texas to North Dakota. Bodie and his family moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1965 where Bodie founded his company Collins Drilling and Pump Service and raised his family. Bodie was an avid artist which started with pencil drawings and moved into metal work. He was a member of the National Guard, Masons, and Elks. Bodie who became an icon in the valley due to all of the lives he has touched and the friendships he has made, he will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
