Obituary for Donald Eugene Beagley

Donald Eugene Beagley, 72, died Saturday.

Don was born Aug. 3, 1943, in Grand Junction. He married Linda in 1959, when he was just 16 years old. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Washington State, Michigan and Orlando before they moved back to Colorado and settled in Edwards in 1973. They moved to Eagle in 1979.

Don was co-owner of SDI, a construction company in Eagle. He and his son Mark worked together in the business since it was formed in 1986. He retired in 2009. During retirement, he traveled internationally — to France, Italy, Mexico, Egypt, Peru and Ireland.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, pack trips and traveling. He loved the Colorado mountains. He was certified in scuba diving while living in Florida. He became a private pilot and owned his own small Cessna that he kept at the Eagle airport back in the ’70s.

Don is survived by his mother, Leona Mayberry, of Grand Junction; daughters Roxy Beagley (Joe Kolis) and Rhonda Higgins; sons Mark (Patty) Beagley and Marty Beagley; grandchildren Michael Miller, Michelle (Justin) Winstead, Kyle (Vanessa) Higgins, Bradie (Ryan) Beagley-Reiner, Hattie (Dain) Wagy, Britni Beagley and Steil Beagley; great-grandchildren Cole and Ava Winstead, Brooke Higgins, and Jack and Cash Wagy; siblings, sisters Bobbie Fredrickson, Cheri (Ron) Barber and Joey (Tom Fry) Bailey, and brother Gary (Lisa) Mayberry.

He was predeceased by his wife, Linda; daughter Reva Kuhr; and son-in-law Danny Higgins. There will be an informal service and reception at the Eagle County Exhibition Hall on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Don wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread at his favorite hunting spot up on the Flattops.
