Obituary for Rona Lee Fischer

Rona Lee Fischer
Rona Lee (Bush) Fischer, age 55, of Glenwood Springs, passed away on September 27, 2015 after a brave, unrelenting battle with cancer.
Rona was the second of twins (Terri) by six minutes, born in Grand Junction, CO. She graduated from Rifle High School in 1978 and went on to play basketball for Mesa State College.
After college, she married Rick Cooper and had her first son Tyrel. She moved to Glenwood Springs where she raised him. In 1996 she married Mark Fischer and had her second son Alphonse.
Rona was the owner of Carbondale Insurance Service and a prominent woman in the Roaring Fork Valley. She was an active member of the Glenwood Springs and Carbondale Chambers of Commerce, Glenwood Springs Elks Club, Rotary Club, Glenwood Springs Ladies Golf Club and a supporter of Glenwood Springs and Carbondale High School Athletics and the Sunlight Ski Club. She donated many hours of volunteering and giving back to her community.
Rona enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and friends. She was the type of person that everyone loved to be around. Whether it was trips to Vegas, sand angels at the golf course, margaritas on the patio, or just a phone call with family or friends, Rona made it memorable. Her laugh and her smile always stayed with those who crossed her path.
Rona was a helper and a protector. She loved her family and friends more than anything. She was an amazing mom, grandma, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She loved deeply, cared strongly and lived happily. She was truly an angel on earth, a blessing to those who knew her, and will forever be a sparkle in everyone’s life.
Rona is survived by: her two sons Tyrel (Michelle) Cooper of Berthoud, and Alphonse Fischer of Fort Collins; her husband Mark Fischer of Glenwood Springs; her twin sister Terri Hanko of Greeley; sisters Paula (John) Garb of Denver and Monica Bush of Bazine, Kansas; father Ron (Janice) Bush of Denver, mother Bethann (Joe) Costanzo of Silt; two beautiful granddaughters Delaney and Lily; several nephews and nieces; stepbrothers (Kevin, Kyle, Kip) and stepsister (Kim).
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 3rd outside at Sunlight Mountain Resort starting at 1pm. Food and drinks will be provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
